I'm not sure if this is possible to do on your suit, because I can't see it. So, here's my best shot. First sand away as much rust as possible, then clean it and allow to dry. place a piece of plastic behind the metal pieces and covering the swimsuit completely. Spray with a clear spray lacquer. It won't get rid of the rust, but it will help keep it from spreading and from ruining your swimsuit.

Use an algaecide in high dose. One that has active ingredients of Poly (oxyethylene, blah blah 60%. Go ahead and use the full quart, it won't foam or hurt you. If you can only get the 30%, use 2 quarts.

Run your filter continuosly and make sure the flow is good. When you say clean the filter, are you backwashing? If you do that to a sand filter all the time, its not the best thing. Any filter people who are competent will tell you that. You should start out clean and not backwash until pressure goes up by about 10psi or flow drops off remarkably. Even then, its good to go 12 more hours. This filters out very small particles which would otherwise pass through. If its a sand filter, have you checked the sand? Is it caked up or clumpy?

Your chlorine--is it very high after the shock (morning after) it should be.

pH should stay at about 7.4 for good algae control.

Are you sure you are treating the right amount of water? 13K is small for an inground pool.

If it's not too big, you can inflate it, take it into a quiet room and start gently squeezing it. You should be able to hear the air escaping and then track down the leak by the sound. You can also take it into the bathroom (if it's not too big), put a few inches of water in the tub, and start submerging it section by section until you see bubbles.

If it's too big for either of these things, you can use a garden hose to start GENTLY letting water run over it while you're applying equally gentle pressure (so you don't make the hole bigger), a section at a time, until you see bubbles.
