Booster Pump
I want to install a water booster pump to increase our very low water pressure.?
Our plumber says we need to replace the existing hot water cylinder with a high pressure version. Can this be correct?
Hi, you will need to have two simple tests done, one for pressure, one for volume, my opinion is At least 3bar pressure & at least 20 liters per minute flow rate, these would be minimum for a pressurised cylinder. Hope this helps:):):)

Electric showers are one of the most popular type of modern showers. The electric shower is basically an instantaneous hot water heater that heats it own water supply via an on board element, that is heated using electrical power, exactly the same as an electric kettle. Electric showers come in different kilo watt ratings, the higher the kw rating the hotter the shower.
Another very common type of shower is the mixer valve or mixer shower, this type of shower has been around for a long time, it is very simple with no electrical components or moving parts. Mixer valves are plumbed in to the hot and cold supply's of the house, and uses the stored hot water that is supplied by the boiler or the immersion heater.
Some times on low pressure systems a booster pump has to be fitted to this type of shower to compensate for the low pressure of some gravity fed (hot water) systems
Another type of modern shower is the electric power shower, on the out side the visual appearance is very similar to an ordinary electric shower, but the operating principle is totally different.
An electric power shower has an integral electric booster pump that pumps the water up to and out of the spray head, thus giving a really powerfully shower. There are certain draw backs with this type of shower and the main one is that they run out of hot water quite quickly as they are supplied from a gravity fed hot water system.
Other types of showers include pumped electric showers, this type of shower is basically an electric shower with a built in pump. The pumped electric shower is specially designed for areas where the water pressure is to low for a standard electric shower. This type of shower is fed from a cold water storage tank and not from the rising mains cold water supply as in the case of an ordinary electric shower.
Thermostatic showers come in all the above variations of shower, the thermostat will protect the user against accidental scolding by preventing the hot water temperature rising above the temperature that you have selected. This is a good choice of shower for disabled or elderly users, or even kids.
