Metal-clad appliances are the easiest way to add some metal to your kitchen and can produce some really stunning results; you likely wouldn't want to replace your old appliances unless you were looking to upgrade the energy efficiency of your kitchen or if your appliances all needed replacing though. For best results, a collection of appliances in all the same finish will usually be the most effective.
If you're looking to redo your countertops, you can have some stunning stainless steel counters installed that give your kitchen an almost maintenance-free surface for cooking that has very little opportunity for damage due to its great resilience. Stainless steel will scratch, but most countertop materials will scratch as well; stainless steel is resistant to heat and water, however.
Sinks can be a fabulous focal point for your kitchen and are available in a wide range of metals. If you are looking for an actual metallic finish, there are sinks available in stainless steel, copper, and bronze, as well as cast iron enamelled sinks in a variety of colors. Sinks can range from single to triple bowl sinks depending on your dishwashing requirements. Apron sinks are a nice option if you're investing in a fancy metal or enamel sink and can really add a splash of color to the room. Different finishes are often available for the inside and the edges or the apron of your sink as well. Many sinks come in a smooth, hammered, or brushed finish.
There are some gorgeous bright metals available for kitchens even without looking into custom metalwork but that is also an option if you want something extra special. Check out your local home improvement centre to see what's available in your area!
