If this was a portable chest x-ray, it was probably only one view of your chest (most CXRs are two views, routinely). With a routine two view CXR, the radiation exposure is the same as what we receive in TEN days of just living on this earth. Not much to worry about, really. A leaded apron is really used just to give the patient peace of mind, since the areas out of the primary beam receive very little, if any , radiation.

Not even the sight of Paul (plus countless friends and Adams family members) eagerly awaiting her emergence from the infamous house. No. What really got her going was the distinctive dark bronze gift-wrapping and logo-embellished ribbon that now envelops every purchase made at a Gucci boutique. And, of course, the G-monogram pattern of the dainty little handbag which she found within.

In front of a reputed seven million viewers, Paul made Helen's fashion dream a reality. Previously, on her birthday, she had eschewed a Gucci gift from the Big Brother people - opting, instead, for a party in which all her housemates could participate. But around 10 past 10 on Friday evening Helen finally became the very excited owner of a handbag (plus some perilously high heels) from this celebrated luxury goods house.

Like so many young women (and men, too), she is clearly in thrall to Tom Ford's revisionist strategy for Gucci. She might not even recognise his name - even if she did, dippy Helen would surely be the devotee most likely to assume that Ford is heir to a car-manufacturing plant in Dagenham or a world-famous rehabilitation clinic rather than the creative supremo of a truly great Italian luxury goods house. But as far as this endearingly dippy Welsh valley girl is concerned, nothing in today's world quite matches the glamour or status typified by those distinctive little Gs which dance across the surface of her brand-new bag.

The regeneration of this house has become a model for the entire luxury goods sector. Thanks to Ford's remarkable efforts, Gucci clothes are now worn by the latter-day jet-set - and every fashion devotee blessed with the combination of financial wherewithal and physical perfection required to carry off their sexy glamour.

Yet, while today's image of the Gucci brand may be drawn from Ford's influential runway shows, the Gucci business (like that of so many upscale fashion houses) is still driven by its accessories business. Gucci accessories are expensive. Their availability is restricted to a handful of exclusive and prestigious stores. Even so, these beautifully crafted shoes and bags have a certain accessibility for consumers who cannot quite contemplate the substantially higher price and stylistic edge of Gucci clothing.

Under Tom Ford's tenure, Gucci has produced a succession of covetable bag designs which have galvanised sales - and unleashed countless imitations. Indeed, the "hobo" and "Jackie" styles shown here must rank among the most -copied shapes in the history of luxury-brand leathergoods.

But Ford has something which so many rival designers lack: a consummate sense of timing. Having at first resisted the house's signature G-monogram canvas, he reintroduced it the moment that Gucci secured its first taste of renewed high-fashion credibility.

Now, those dancing Gs enjoy near-universal recognition - proclaiming status and fashion credibility in roughly equal measures. They echo the illogical yet compelling desirability of the Louis Vuitton monogram or Burberry's near -ubiquitous house-check. For carrying a G-monogram bag suggests membership of a stylistic coterie - the Tom Ford fan club, if you please. Know what? It clearly pleases Helen Adams very much.

Automated System Recovery (ASR) is a Windows tool used to simplify recovery of a server's system or boot volumes. ASR consists of two parts: an automated backup and an automated restore. The backup portion can be accessed in the Backup utility under System Tools.

Users can access it through the Automated System Recovery Preparation Wizard located in Backup. The ASR Preparation Wizard backs up the System State data, system services, and all disks associated with the operating system components. It also creates a floppy disk, which contains information about the backup, the disk configurations, and how to accomplish a restore.

Microsoft
Windows Vista SP1 Automated System Recovery was released in February last year.

The ASR is one of the aspects in Windows Vista that has been evolved with the introduction of Vista Service Pack-1. A Windows application programming interface, ASR is designed to keep track of and record the configuration of disks and volumes on a system. It will also manage disks in accordance with Critical and non-Critical labels, depending on whether they do or do not contain system state or operating system components.

With Windows Vista SP1, Microsoft has introduced supports for the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). As such the ASR in both Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008 was tweaked in order to be capable of recovering EFI system partitions in a bare metal recovery.

IBM
IBM-Tivoli is ASR in static IP environments using Tivoli Storage Manager was introduced in November last year.

The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Automated System Recovery Process supports Networks that are DHCP enabled. In networks that do not support DHCP and uses Static IP's, the local backup sets are used to recover these systems in case of a crash or total failure.

ASR is used to recover Microsoft Windows Server system in the event of a catastrophic system or hardware failure. The goal of ASR process is to return the operating system to the point of last backup. It is a two-phase process.

    * Microsoft Windows installs a temporary operating system image using the original operating system media.
    * Windows invokes TSM to restore the system volume and system state information.

IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) interfaces with Microsoft Windows to provide system recovery.

Hewlett Packard
HP Blade PC Automated System Recovery Utility 2.00 Rev. E description was introduced earlier this year.

This package contains the Automated System Recovery (ASR-2) Service for the supported desktop models and operating systems. The ASR-2 service causes an HP Blade PC that has stopped responding (locked up), or that has experienced a "blue-screen" error, to restart (reboot), bringing it back online and making it available for network users.

Development includes the modification of the installation script to add support for 64-bit Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Vista).

Conclusion
ASR does not backup user's files or other data, it should be used only as a last resort because in preparation for a restore ASR will format the system and boot volumes of the hard-drive, making other, less drastic recovery methods impossible.

Much has been said about the end of Digital Rights Management era in the music industry. In theory DRM protection was pointed to suppress media piracy, being just a perfect marketing course indeed. Protected music and video files are encrypted and locked by playback license authorization. The license may permit music to be copied to other computers, digital MP3 players and mobile phones. Each device must be individually authorized by an online license server. It means that without such a server, former customers of music service are not able to play their DRM-protected music on any new PC's or digital players. We can remember MSN Music and Sony CONNECT Europe stores have closed down leaving thousands of paying customers with gigabytes of useless DRM-protected files.

Fortunately, there are some proved ways to get around DRM protection. The first and the most evident one is to burn music or video to CD and rip as unprotected files. This works fine if you convert audio only. For example protected iTunes video M4V files cannot be burned to CD/DVD. Another way is to connect iPod to another visual device such as a hi-fi or TV using Apple AV Connection Kit (one of iPod accessories). Then if you have the recording device, music or video can be re-recorded in unprotected format. But you know this cable kit will cost you another $100. And of course the third party applications such as DRMBuster, SoundTaxi and NoteBurner have been developed to get around DRM. Usually their cost is $20-$50 depending on their functionality.

As of today, DRM protection practice becomes more and more outdated. At least the major market players such as Napster To Go and Amazon already went DRM-free. At the 2009 Macworld Conference & Expo, it was openly announced that iTunes Music Store, the industry leader, would be DRM-free too with conversion complete by April 2009. DRM-free music downloads are now available for download in iPod M4A (AAC) audio format. On the other hand, iTunes brakes their single-price rule with three points: $0.69, $0.99, and $1.29 per one audio track download. Such difference in price will now depend on particular artist and song popularity. Going to buy a new popular record? - be ready to pay more. Another one "great" offer to "thankful" Apple iTunes customers is an "easy" upgrade of the music you already own from DRM-protected format (M4P) into unprotected M4A for ONLY $0.30 per song. If your music library consists of several hundred albums in DRM-protected format, you can pay Apple so to say an appreciable sum of money for absolutely nothing.

Even without DRM, iTunes songs will still be in Apple's preferred AAC (M4A) format, not the more widely supported MP3. As to movies, video clips, TV shows and audio books - they will remain in DRM-protected format (M4V for videos and M4B for audio books). Finally the easiest way to convert the entire library of protected music and videos is to use DRM media converter software. The most solid technology, used by DRMBuster, is virtual sound or graphics card for conversion. It's like re-recording your files with Apple Connection Kit virtual simulator. Such media converters do not circumvent DRM copy-protection technology, so they are completely legal.
