Knowing how to determine your skin tone and applying that knowledge to your cosmetic and clothing selection can bring out the best in your appearance. We all know when a certain color looks great on us while other colors seem to leave us looking ashen and worn out.

Skin tones fall into three classifications, they are: Warm, Cool and Neutral. Below are some easy steps to help you deterimine your skin tone.

Vein test - in a natural light, look at the inside of your wrist; if the veins appear greenish this indicates you have yellow undertones and thus would have a warm skin tone. Veins that appear to be more bluish indicate a cool skin tone.

Pony tail test - pull all your hair back away from the face in a pony tail or with a headband and thoroughly cleanse the face. Place a white towel or cloth around your neck and shoulders, if you face looks more yellow this would indicate a warm skin tone, whereas a bluish reflection would mean a cool skin tone.

Silver/Gold test - If you think you look better in gold than silver, this indicates a warm skin tone. People with cool skin tones usually look better in silver. Additionally, you can use a gold and silver cloth for this test, hold a swatch of gold fabric under the chin, does it make you look healthy, ashen or neither. Try the same with silver fabric, what do you see? a bluish hue or yellow undertones?

Genetic natural color of eyes and hair - As a rule of thumb, normally people with blue, green or grey eyes with blond, black or brown hair have a cool skin tone. Additionally, cool skin tones will have a pink or rosy undertone. Those people with brown, black, or hazel eyes and have black, brown, blond, red, or strawberry blond hair are usually have a warm skin tone and have a golden or apricot undertone. However, there are always exceptions to the rule when trying to deterime your skin tone by the color of your hair and eyes.

If after doing the above tests you are still unable to determine your skin tone, you may fall into the neutral skin tone. Neutral skin tones can wear any color and look great, however neutral skin tones may lean towards either warm or cool. For instance, a neutral skin tone can look great in a warm color and fabulous in a cool color or vice a versa.

So what colors are best for your skin tone? Below is a short summary, again there are always exceptions to the rule.

Cool Skin Tone - Consider rich, true colors. These would include black, navy, red, shocking pink, rich raspberries, deep emerald greens, royal blue, plums or pure black. Additionally wear icy tones instead of pastels for a lighter color. Cool skin tones should avoid beige, orange and gold.

Warm Skin Tone- Consider earth colors either crisp or muted. Normally those with a warm skin tone look great in sage greens, gold, mochas, and bronzes. For a softer color try peach, apricot yellow.

Neutral Skin Tone - luckily for you, all colors will look good however, as indicated above most neutral skin tones will sway one way or another, so while a warm color may look great on you a cool color may look fabulous.

Selecting the right colors based on your skin tone can add so much to your overall appearance. The right color can add sparkle to your overall being and complexion while the wrong color can leave you looking ashen and your complexion washed out.

If you are still uncertain about your skin tone, stop by a cosmetics counter at a fine department store and talk with the clerk. Additionally, you could consult with your beautician for advice.

Back pain can be terribly debilitating. Your back tends to take a hammering from daily life, from bad posture to old beds, from sitting in a vehicle too long to lifting heavy items inappropriately.

Backs come in for a lot of grief. It's a human tendency to abuse something until it fails, then you wish you hadn't!

But of all your body parts, managing everyday life with a painful back must rank among the most troublesome.

The key to looking after your back, and so prevent back pain, is to listen to your body. If you're doing some manual labour which involves a lot of lifting, you need to stop when your body tells you it's had enough, regardless of whether the job is finished or not.

If you listen to your body, you'll rarely comes to any harm. Trouble is, you have probably got out of the habit of doing this. Instead you listen to the clock or getting something finished.

That's great advice, but isn't it a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted?

Yes and no. If you're aware of why something has happened, at least you'll know not to do it, next time.

So lets get back to your current back pain.

The vast majority of back pain is caused by some form of injury to the soft tissue (muscles or tendons). When you sit in a car or vehicle too long, you overstrain your back muscles, as it tries to support you in an unnatural position.

If you do too much lifting, you can see you have injured your supporting back muscles.

Injury is not necessarily something that happened suddenly.

If you don't address this problem, in an energetic way, by healing it on a deep level, it becomes compounded over the years.

Whilst living off pain killers can help you function, they do nothing for your liver or for your back pain in the long run.

One of the main symptoms of back pain is actually stiffness. Especially on rising from sitting or lying for some time, such as first thing in the morning. But once you get over that initial painfully stiff first few steps, you work a bit looser and feel better.

For a while.

But then the pain starts again and you have to sit or lie down and the cycle repeats itself.

This is known as the rusty gate syndrome. A rusty gate hinge is very stiff to get moving, but will generally get better on continued movement.

If this seems to fit you to a T, do another couple of checks before I let you in on an amazing (and totally natural) remedy.

Everyone is different about how they respond to heat and cold. Some find putting a cold pack on an injury helps the pain a lot. I'm not talking about ice here, which tends to numb the pain for virtually anyone. I'm talking about your personal preference.

Other people prefer heat, or a hot pack, which relieves the pain a bit. Hot showers can be heaven.

So the checklist goes like this

you've injured or strained your back in some way, possibly years ago
without pain killers, your back is predominantly stiff, with some improvement on initial movement
generally, heat improves the pain

If this sounds like you, the homeopathic remedy Rhus tox is likely to help your back a great deal. It may even cure it.

At the very least, you will probably be able to come off your analgaesics, much to your livers relief.

If you're like most people, you probably love to lie out on the beach to enjoy a summer day while the waves lap the shore and the sun beats gently down on your skin. After a relaxing day like this, you may be thrilled to show off your new tan. Of course a day at the beach is fun, but without the proper protection and care of your skin, instead of looking healthy and young, you'll be nursing your sunburned and damaged skin.

The bottom line is, UV rays from the sun are damaging to the skin. If you spend too much time out in the sun without the proper protection, you'll soon find your skin prematurely aging, sagging, wrinkling, and generally showing obvious signs of disrepair. There are several foods that make a big difference in protecting your skin against the damage that comes from extended exposure to the sun's UV rays. We've been to Gatlinburg tons of times and I've never found one that does. The real secluded cabins aren't connected to a Lodge or anything. They are usually owned by an individual.

Free power isn't totally free you will need to invest in equipment; but the power you make will be free. You have a large advantage over power companies when you make free power at home. No delivery charge. Power companies collect power or convert it then deliver it. They divide the cost of investment over 30 to 50 years and charge you for the investment and delivery amortized over time. What is the delivery cost if you make your own power (Zilch, zero, nothing)? If you hire a contractor to install energy devices at your home the cost will not be much cheaper than the Power Company. Your payback period will be as high as 25 years, not much better than the Power Company's payback period.

The rules change when you make your own power with a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach. No delivery charge, no contractor cost and investment payback period is usually under 5 years.

Here are seven reasons to make DIY homemade power:

1.) Free power is everywhere. You just need to collect it.

2.) Collecting free power is easy with solar, wind, and solar hot water systems.

3.) Free power investment is cheep for DIY. DIY projects can be 1/10 the cost of commercial and payback is 5-10 times faster, usually under 5 years.

4.) The governments encourage free power collection. The government will pay you. In the USA the tax credit is 30% up to $2000 for solar electric and solar hot water and up to $4,000 for small wind turbine. That is not much for commercial investment of $20,000 to $80,000; but this is a lot for DIY projects of $100 to $6,000.

5.) Free power is green. The more you collect the less the power company pollutes our planet. That makes a greener planet for our future and the kids' future.

6.) Do-it-yourself guides that make free power projects easy and low cost are cheep. Projects are a $100 - $200 investment. Multiple projects can get you off the grid completely.

7.) Remote sites like a vacation home or cabin, hunting lodge, campsites can be powered by these free power projects, no gas generator and no kerosene.

Solar Panels

Solar panels are a collection of solar cells, soldered together into a system. The cells can be purchase on eBay for about $50 per 100 watts of power. You assemble the cells in to 70 – 175 watt panels. Installing the panels is a matter of some brackets and wire. Solar panel installation is much more flexible and portable than wind turbines. They produce 18+ volts in to a battery charge controller. The controller fills deep cycle batteries with the power during the day. Power can be generated most days, even with clouds. The limitation of solar panels is the sun. It's up only half the day. A power inverter converts the battery's power to household power for your normal use, day or night. Building several panels can achieve 1000+ watts of power.

Small Wind Turbine

Wind turbine is not for everyone. You need an open space, not because they are too large but because the wind flows better in the open. You need a minimum of 10+ M.P.H. wind speed with 20+ M.P.H. being ideal. An advantage to wind turbines is the wind can blow all day to produce power day or night. Another consideration is the wind turbine needs to be on a tower. The taller the better, in the 20 – 60 foot range. This usually requires local zoning permits. If these are not a problem you will get twice the power out of a wind turbine than for the same investment in solar panels. The break-even point is $400. More than that, the wind turbine is less costly to build for the same power output. You can easily get 450 watts to 1,000 watts from one DIY homemade turbine. Like the Solar Panel description above, you store the energy in deep cycle batteries and use an inverter to make household power, day or night.

Solar Hot Water

The power required for a home hot water heater is about 30% of the household energy budget. The solar hot water can easily cut that in half. Solar hot water uses the greenhouse effect. Build a box with a glass cover and some pipes and you can get hot water in the range of 120 - 130 degrees Fahrenheit winter and summer. Feed this hot water into you hot water heater for storage and the hot water heater will shut down, no power consumption. The hot water heater will only run when a boost is required like washing clothes. The construction is cheep and easy.

Currently in prison, serving a 150 year sentence for one of the largest scams in history, Bernie Madoff sits by watching his assets being sold off one by one in an effort to compensate the victims of his crime. The latest item on the chopping block is his luxury Hamptons beach house. He wasn't a flashy person in his regular life, and this is reflected in his home. There are no tennis courts or guest houses, in fact there isn't even a garage, but the home is ideally located on the beach, close to the pounding surf.

The home has a subtle elegance, with an understated decor designed to take advantage of the panoramic Long Island views available in most rooms of the house. The large covered deck and pool also allow for stunning ocean vistas and quick access to the beach, only steps away.

The living room is simple, but dramatic with it's vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and stone fireplace. Half of the room is lined with windows, and skylights provide additional sunlight, giving it an open airy feel. Overstuffed leather furniture sitting by the fireplace looks cozy and inviting.

There are four bedrooms with three baths; practical, but smaller than you'd expect by today's standards. The second story master bedroom is surprisingly plain with no walk-in closet, but the expansive wall of windows and repeated use of exposed beams and wood floors is impressive. A private terrace opens up to reveal a gorgeous ocean view.

The dining room features floor to ceiling windows facing the ocean; creating an ambience of beachfront dining. The small room contains only a solid wood, round dining table for eight and accompanying wood chairs. The kitchen isn't fancy, but small and efficient, with large openings to allow mingling with guests, and those ever present ocean views.

At just over 3,000 square feet on a 1.2 acre lot, Bernie's home has been listed at $8.75 million with the Corcoran Group, Word has it, the government is seeking at least $7 million for the waterfront home. When Madoff purchased it in 1979 it was worth $3 million. Even in a down market, this man would have made a substantial profit. The contents have been seized, and any personal belongings, or furniture remaining in the home will be sold off. According to Deputy United States Marshal, Roland Ubaldo, everything found inside will be sold at auction, "from pieces of art to Ruth Madoff's shoes."

In addition to the beach house, brokers will be frantically selling off Madoff's Manhattan apartment and Palm Beach Florida estate, with a total value of approximately $25 million. Initially, it was believed that Madoff was guilty of defrauding tens of billions of dollars. Now after further investigation, those billion dollar numbers were the result of padded account statements. Bernie never actually invested any of the money, he simply channeled the funds from new investors to pay off existing ones.

The Madoff home doesn't stand out among other neighboring mansions, but sits quietly by, allowing it's occupants to enjoy the best this area has to offer – probably just the way Bernie wanted it.
