is threre some type of automatic feeder I can put in the garden pond to support the fish during my absence.?
The pond is mature 12 by 4 feet with plenty of plants.
how long could the fish survive without feeding, relying instead on pond nutrients?

yes, like many people said there are may types of automatic pond feeders.
BUT:
if the pond has been set up for 1 or 2 years + and is not overstocked, your fish will be fine for up to a month eating the algae in the pond and your aquatic plants, they may even snatch a few water bugs once in a while.
also, if the pond is mature and you only have maybe 10 goldfish and under 2 small koi your fish can live without you feeding until the koi grow huge!
it all depends on what you have.
